Introducing the New Yankees Manager…

The She-Fan, Jane Heller, asked a great question with her blog yesterday…

What about you? Do you think you could manage a team? And if so, what sort of manager would you be?”

Of course, my philosophy to life probably most closely resembles former Yankees manager Joe Torre.  At work, I have always tried to emulate the same managerial style and try to stay consistently calm and level-headed in the face of chaos.

But, with that being said, as a major league manager, all bets are off!  A new ME would emerge!  Ladies and Gentlemen, here comes Scott aka Billy Martin…AGAIN!

These Billy Martin quotes would become my bible:

“I really love the togetherness in baseball. That’s a real true love.”

“Most people miss the great part mental outlook plays in this game.”

“There’s nothing greater in the world than when somebody on the team does something good, and everybody gathers around to pat him on the back.”

“What I miss when I’m away is the pride in baseball. Especially the pride of being on a team that wins.”

“I’m getting smarter, I finally punched something that couldn’t sue me.”

“I may not have been the best Yankee to put on the pinstripes, but I am the proudest.”

Scott, you’re fired!

“Oh, no, not again!”

Scott – LOVED IT!! BUT – if you’re hired? The wager is off! How would I know that you wouldn’t cheat? I mean – cayenne pepper in the rosin bag? Herbal tea in the Red Bull cans? Hubba-bubba instead of Double-Bubble for Tito? I know that you Yankees’ fans can be crafty! ;-)

Gee…that’s what my cat looks like from time to time!
If Julia is worried about cayenne pepper, maybe you should use itching powder in the rosin bags instead? :0)

Hilarious post, Scott. And you look so handsome in the Yankees uniform! With your calm demeanor and sound judgments, I don’t think George (or Hank/Hal) would fire you. There would be an uprising on MLBlogs.

And Scott – not crazy at all! A fine glass of wine is better ANY day than a beer! :-)

Hey Scott – I was reading some football news tonight and saw that the Vikings signed some free agents. Paymah’s from Denver – could the Vikings be trying for a “Patriots” move? Sign one player then swoop in for the QB? Good luck!

Hey Scott – It’s almost time for Jane’s interview. Gotta check out the groovy video she found of her interviewer! Hope you’re enjoying your beauty sleep!

JULIA – I saw the Vikings had signed some free agents, but I have honestly never heard of either guy. I am trying to take Erin’s approach to Cutler…believe it if I see it! Cassel was who I really wanted but of course the Vikings don’t have an ex-Pats exec as GM! LOL!

CANUCK – I wish that the interview would not have been in the middle of the night. Unfortunately, I don’t get a lot of sleep during the week, so it was definitely too late for me. If you heard it, what did you think?

JANE – So, what did you talk about on the interview? ;) LOL! Hey, it sounds like Girardi may be getting closer to naming Gardner the starting CF. I like the way A.J. battled last night even though he didn’t have his best stuff.

Have a great day everyone! Rumor has it that it’s Friday! ;)

scott – She did a great job! The guy interviewing her was a Red Sox fan! :) I loved the little stories she told, and she was a lot more entertaining than the guy before her. It was neat to hear about her trip with the Yankees.

Ah, yes, Billy Martin. Probably my all-time favorite manager. He was drunk and ornery, but extremely loyal to his players and those he considered friends. By the way, congratulations for beating us again. Although the Twins probably would’ve won if it weren’t for Jose Mijares. Oh well, that’s what ST games are for.-Erinhttp://plunking-gomez.mlblogs.com

Scott,
There is something absolutely beautiful about baseball that I can’t put my finger on. It could be a collection of things, but the togetherness and the mental outlook definitely contribute to it.
